Booth Brothers Dairy Night

Bear Ridge Speedway is winding down for the 2009 season, but that doesn’t mean the action is. “Mazda” was the theme of the night with the Bond Auto Sportsman Modifieds doing three 20 lap segments, and the KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornets doing three 15 lap segments, plus it was “Madness” Night for the Journal Opinion Fast Fours with two 15 lap segments being scored in the record books for them along with regular features for the Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes and the A Notch Above Limited Late Models on Booth Brothers “Milk Night”.
In the KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornets Tom Placey while struggling of late to make it to the checkers first, is still the one to topple for the crown in 2009. Placey once again was strong throughout the night coming from the front to back in all three of their Mazda events to finish finally in the coveted first place spot. Placey would also set fast time for the night and earn himself an extra cool fifty dollars courtesy of an anonymous sponsor who foot the bill for both pole winners fifty dollar bonus.
The overall top three for this Mazda event were Tom Placey #22 Bradford VT, Karl Sheldon #19 St Johnsbury VT and Bobby Bell #24 St Johnsbury VT
For the Journal Opinion Fast Fours it was madness night with extra money on the line for each of the top five for each lap completed. Combined finishes give you the overall finish in the madness as in the Mazda, and ties are broken by the finishing order of the final segment. Tonight the madness would end with Andy Johnson #12 Wilder VT your overall winner due to his first place finish in segment two with Steve Bell #10 St Johnsbury VT coming home in second. Third would go to Ryan Dutton #21 Bradford VT who was tied with Kevin Harran #57 ST Johnsbury VT but finished ahead of him in the final segment making him the third place trophy.
For A Notch Above Limited Late Models one of the only two drivers of the division to have made every event is still forever a bridesmaid never a bride, or even worse making no victory lane appearance at all. Jeremy Hodge #17 Bradford VT would not be able to capitalize on the current points leader absence, struggling the entire night. Hodge was seen watching from mid pack as Shane Race #22 Strafford VT set sail on the field and cruised to the win with Will Hull #61 E Montpelier VT in second and TC Forward #14 Lyme NH in third.
In the Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes the points battle is too tight for some, as Melvin Pierson #33 E Corinth VT and Billy Simmons #16 Bradford VT find themselves swapping the runner up position almost weekly. Tonight Pierson would have the bad luck and fall behind Simmons in the point standings, as he would experience mechanical problems midway thru the event. The man on the move the second half of the season in both divisions he runs in is Bryan King #X Corinth VT who was able to win not only his semi feature but would come home the winner in the main event as well. Joining him in victory lane were Simmons in second and your current points leader Josh Harrington #71 Topsham VT in third.
In the BOND Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds the man unfire is Ryan Avery #01 Thornton NH. Not only did Avery along with Bryan King #X Corinth VT show up in the money in every segment the week before for their madness night, he also set fast pace for the Modifieds in time trials for the Mazda, taking home the cool fifty, and won two out of three of the Mazda segments this night. This would make him the overall winner of the night with Gary Siemons #5 Orford NH the winner of the third segment coming home in second overall and King taking the final victory lane spot for the event.
The P&C Food Hornet Queens were on hand for their last event of 2009 and when the checkers waved it was Melissa King for the win with Misty Bell second and Dawn Woodward in third. Misty Bell is officially crowned the queen of this division for the 2009 season!
