Swenson Insurance night

Bradford, Vt. August 22, 2010
Swenson Insurance, Bradford Bull Dogs Benefit night provided some of the best quarter mile clay oval racing in New England Saturday Night at the Ridge.
Visiting for their final points race of the season was the WYKR Bear Ridge Speedway Sponsored SCoNE machines with seventeen machines on hand to qualify for the sixteen feature positions. While the beginning was a bit rough going, an unusual characteristic for SCoNE, once they settled down, it was plenty of edge of your seat racing excitement for the fans. Bringing home the checkers and claiming the points title was Chris Donnelly #20 Orford, NH. Following Donnelly to victory lane, after going for a wild ride early bringing out a red flag as he lay on his side, was Dan Douville #7x Bridgewater NH, third was claimed by Shawn Lawler #18L Mason NH.
With only four weeks left to the 2010 season the points battles in all divisions are heating up, and with the racing excitement on the track.
For the 99ROCK weekly racing series the KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornets while Thomas Placey #22 Bradford VT pretty much can claim the crown, he continues to show up every week to do his best, to win. Placey weekly starts from back of the pack and works his way to the front to make yet another trip to victory. Lane. This night would be no exception as Placey was able to claim the top spot on lap seventeen and go for the win. Brad Martin #34 leading the first 16 laps of the race was able to hold on to third place, having lost the runner up position to Jessie Smith #8 Topsham VT who slid past him right behind Placey.
With over 100 cars in the pits, every division saw increased car counts and the 99ROCK weekly racing series Journal Opinion Fast Fours were no exception. Josh Connors #16 pretty much found himself in the same position as Brad Martin in the hornets leading the pack and looking poised to getting his first win of the season, but new comers Travis Hall #66 Graniteville VT brother of Limited Late Model Will Hull in only his first visit to the Ridge and first time on the dirt thinks he might like it, as he was able to slide his way to the front and come home the winner at the end of the night. Following him in second was Brandon Lemere #1 Lebanon NH, another first timer to the Ridge, with Connors holding on to the final victory lane spot.
Brother Will Hull in the 99Rock weekly racing series A Notch Above Limited Late Models has been unable to get the bad luck gremlin of luck lately off his back, and it was hoped that for his 29th birthday, that his luck just might change. Unfortunately that would not be the case as Hull once again found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time collected up in a spin in turns one and two which put him in the pits for the remainder of the night. It seemed for the pole sitters that while they did all the hard work to maintain the lead thru three quarters of the race, they were unable to make it to the checkers first, as was true for Jason Blake #07 who saw his attempt at his first win slip from his hands on lap sixteen when Tyler Stygles #50 Bradford VT sailed by him and went on for the win. Blake would spin out on the last lap and finish last which opened up second place to Troy Comeau #89 Rumney NH and third to be claimed by TC Forward #14 Lyme NH.
The tightest points battle of the season is coming down to two brothers as the Pierson boys sit with only a two point separation in the 99ROCK weekly racing series Wells River Chevrolet B Coupes. Brother Gene's 6 point lead over Melvin has closed to 2 points with Melvin Pierson #33 E Corinth VT third place finish. Claiming the checkers was Josh Harrington #3 Topsham VT who took the lead away from Brian King on lap 18. King would slide back out of the top three, leaving the runner up spot to Chris Carbee #5 So Ryegate VT
The 99ROCK weekly racing series Bond Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds saw Danny Eastman #3 Thetford Ctr VT set on pole, dominate the field, and survive five restarts to claim the win. The battle for the runner up and third place victory lane spots was a hard fought one with Derek Graham #10 Woodsville VT doing most of the battle. Graham first had to hold off the hard fought challenges of Gary Siemons #5 Orford NH but by lap fifteen would see his hold on the runner up spot slip away. His next contender was Adam Pierson, who managed to get by Graham, but only for a brief moment before Graham was able to reclaim the spot. Pierson would fall one spot short of victory lane, as he watched Graham cross the line ahead of him in third.
The Weglarz Property Service and Excavation mind race leader award winners for Perry's Oil Service night were:#57 Kevin Harran in the Journal Opinion Fast Fours and #1nh Jack Cook in the Bond Auto Sportsman Modifieds.
