Bradford, Vt. August 30, 2009
Promoter CV Elms wins one over Mother Nature, and the fans who turned out for the only show in New England Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway sponsored by Sabil and Sons were not disappointed. Persistent rain on and off throughout the day delayed the start time, but when racing began it was edge of the seat excitement.
Visiting were Wings, as the Granite State Mini Sprints and the Sprint Cars of New England. For the 500ccs Lacey Hanson would come home the winner, Zach Herbert second and Jordan Eldridge thirds. In the 600ccs Matt Robie added another win to his record, crossing the line first with John Chestnut in second and Troy Boissoneau in third. The Granite State Mini Sprints put on yet another great show with Matt Shaut crossing the line in first, Tunk Berry second and Shawn Lawler third.
In the KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornets Mark Harran #4 St Johnsbury VT started fourth and found himself following Kyle Ashford for several laps before watching Ashford suddenly going the other way and himself in the lead. Harran would have to work hard to hold on the position as Tom Placey #22 Bradford VT worked his way to set a hard challenge on Harran but was unable to make it happen. Harran would cruise on to his first win of his career with Placey on his tail coming home in the final victory lane spot was Amanda Grey #00 East Thetford VT.
In the Journal Opinion Fast Fours it was all Andy Johnson #12 Wilder VT, who got the front quickly and stayed there. Joining him in victory lane was Steve Bell #10 St Johnsbury VT in second and Kevin Harran #57 St Johnsbury VT.
The A Notch Above Limited Late Models would see their show slowed once for brief misting of Mother Nature, but would able to resume, with track conditions the best they could be for Danny Eastman #8 Thetford Ctr VT who cruised on for yet another win. In second it was Jeremy Hodge #17 Bradford VT with Shane Race #22 Strafford VT in third.
The Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes Josh Harrington #71 Topsham VT came from fourth to first in the blink of an eye and left the rest of the field to cruise on for the win. Coming home in second was Bryan King #X Corinth VT and Billy Simmons #22 Bradford VT in third.
The BOND Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds voted two weeks ago that they too wanted a chance to earn some extra cash. So tonight it was madness night for the guys, and they were up to the challenge with sixty nine laps recorded in the record books, meaning three twenty three lap features. Bring the field to the green for segment one was Travis Shinn, as he brought to the table seventeen laps. After twenty three laps were recorded in the record books it would be Gary Siemons #5 Orford NH across the line first with Chris Donnelly #17 Orford NH in second and Ryan Avery #01 Thornton NH in third. Segment two would line up inverted from segment one showing Jeremy Huntoon #26 Bradford VT setting the pace. At the checkers of this event Jason Sanville #96 Canaan NH made it across the line first with Huntoon holding on for second and Wayne Stearns #1D Thetford Ctr VT in third. Segment three was once again inverted from the conclusion of segment two. When the checkers waved on segment three Bob Shepard #44 W Topsham VT was the lucky winner with Gary Siemons #5 Orford NH in second and Chris Donnelly #17 Orford NH in third. When the three segments were totaled together Gary Siemons #5 Orford NH was declared the overall winner with Chris Donnelly #17 Orford NH second and Ryan Avery #01 Thornton NH in third
