Sabil & Sons night 8-29-09

For Immediate Release contact brsdirt@charter.net
Bradford, Vt. August 30, 2009
Promoter CV Elms wins one over Mother Nature, and the fans who turned out for the only show in New England Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway sponsored by Sabil and Sons were not disappointed. Persistent rain on and off throughout the day delayed the start time, but when racing began it was edge of the seat excitement.
Visiting were Wings, as the Granite State Mini Sprints and the Sprint Cars of New England. For the 500ccs Lacey Hanson would come home the winner, Zach Herbert second and Jordan Eldridge thirds. In the 600ccs Matt Robie added another win to his record, crossing the line first with John Chestnut in second and Troy Boissoneau in third. The Granite State Mini Sprints put on yet another great show with Matt Shaut crossing the line in first, Tunk Berry second and Shawn Lawler third.
In the KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornets Mark Harran #4 St Johnsbury VT started fourth and found himself following Kyle Ashford for several laps before watching Ashford suddenly going the other way and himself in the lead. Harran would have to work hard to hold on the position as Tom Placey #22 Bradford VT worked his way to set a hard challenge on Harran but was unable to make it happen. Harran would cruise on to his first win of his career with Placey on his tail coming home in the final victory lane spot was Amanda Grey #00 East Thetford VT.
In the Journal Opinion Fast Fours it was all Andy Johnson #12 Wilder VT, who got the front quickly and stayed there. Joining him in victory lane was Steve Bell #10 St Johnsbury VT in second and Kevin Harran #57 St Johnsbury VT.
The A Notch Above Limited Late Models would see their show slowed once for brief misting of Mother Nature, but would able to resume, with track conditions the best they could be for Danny Eastman #8 Thetford Ctr VT who cruised on for yet another win. In second it was Jeremy Hodge #17 Bradford VT with Shane Race #22 Strafford VT in third.
The Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes Josh Harrington #71 Topsham VT came from fourth to first in the blink of an eye and left the rest of the field to cruise on for the win. Coming home in second was Bryan King #X Corinth VT and Billy Simmons #22 Bradford VT in third.
The BOND Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds voted two weeks ago that they too wanted a chance to earn some extra cash. So tonight it was madness night for the guys, and they were up to the challenge with sixty nine laps recorded in the record books, meaning three twenty three lap features. Bring the field to the green for segment one was Travis Shinn, as he brought to the table seventeen laps. After twenty three laps were recorded in the record books it would be Gary Siemons #5 Orford NH across the line first with Chris Donnelly #17 Orford NH in second and Ryan Avery #01 Thornton NH in third. Segment two would line up inverted from segment one showing Jeremy Huntoon #26 Bradford VT setting the pace. At the checkers of this event Jason Sanville #96 Canaan NH made it across the line first with Huntoon holding on for second and Wayne Stearns #1D Thetford Ctr VT in third. Segment three was once again inverted from the conclusion of segment two. When the checkers waved on segment three Bob Shepard #44 W Topsham VT was the lucky winner with Gary Siemons #5 Orford NH in second and Chris Donnelly #17 Orford NH in third. When the three segments were totaled together Gary Siemons #5 Orford NH was declared the overall winner with Chris Donnelly #17 Orford NH second and Ryan Avery #01 Thornton NH in third

New faces graces victory lane Swenson Night 8-15-09

For Immediate Release contact brsdirt@charter.net
Bradford, Vt. August 16, 2009
New faces grace the checkered flag strip Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway during the 99ROCK weekly racing series events sponsored by Swenson Insurance Agency of Bradford VT.
In the KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornets Mike Ryan led every lap but the ones that matter, in what looked to be his best run of the season. Ryan seemed unstoppable, until his machine stopped. From the infield it sounded like that engine has seen its last lap, and Ryan with just two to go would go from first to fourth in the blink of an eye. Ryan’s misfortune was the fortune of one of the new faces in victory lane, as Mike Chapin #37 Chelsea VT having worked his way from eighth to second, saw that spot turn to first and has first win of his career. Following Chapin to victory lane was your current points leader, and seeming unstoppable at being crowned the champ in this division, Tom Placey #22 Bradford VT. The third and final victory lane spot would be occupied by Bobby Bell #24 St Johnsbury VT.
The Journal Opinion Fast Fours was the other division to see another first time face to the winners spot this year as Steve Bell #10 St Johnsbury VT was finally able to capitalize on his starting spot, perfect track conditions for him, and a green to checkers event. Bell would be accompanied by Andy Johnson #12 Wilder VT and Ryan Dutton #21 Bradford VT who finished in that order.
The A Notch Above Limited Late Models competitors have their work set out for them if they hope to knock Danny Eastman #8 Thetford Ctr VT from the top of this heap. Rest assured “it ain’t over till it’s over” but if Eastman continues at the pace he is at, he will surely be crowned the champ in this the first year back at the Ridge for the division. Eastman would once again come from the back, move to the outside, and work his way to the front, in what looked as easy as a Sunday afternoon drive. Unable to stop him from making his way by, Jeremy Hodge #17 Bradford VT and Shane Race #22 Strafford VT, would have to settle for the other two victory lane spots in that order.
The Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes with some new faces in the field would be one of the three divisions to go green to checkers, which meant that if you were going to get it done, you needed to get it done early. Josh Harrington #71 Topsham VT came from deep in the field and picked up the tails of his car driven by Jason Horniak #3 Bradford VT. Harrington would work Horniak hard for a great battle for the lead, but when the checkers waved, Horniak crossed first with Harrington in second, following the dynamic duo in third was Billy Simmons #16 Bradford VT.
The BOND Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds managed to cut their cautions in half from the week before, putting on yet another whale of a show for the fans. Mike Dunn after winning his first ever heat race in the Sportsman Mods, brought the field to the green and held off the seasoned veterans for several laps, before being over taken by the some of the best of the best. One such driver was Chris Donnelly #17 Orford NH, having seen Eastman in the Limited Late Models making it work on the top, decided he would try it at well. Donnelly like Eastman was able to make it work, and would get by Wayne Stearns #1d Thetford Ctr VT, and Gary Siemons #5 Orford NH on the outside to take the lead and sail on for the win. Stearns and Siemons followed him across the line in that order.

Bradford, Vt. August 9, 2009
With only six more weeks of racing excitement at the Bear Ridge Speedway for 2009 the battles thicken, as competitors look to claim the crowns in their respective divisions. This was no exception tonight for the Walker Motor Sales sponsored night. In addition to the 99ROCK weekly racing series full card of racing plus the P&C Hornet Queens, SCoNE (Sprint Cars of New England) were on hand for an extra appearance at the Ridge. Clay Dow #59 claimed the checkers with Matt Shuart #18F in second and Bob Giuliani #38 in third.
In the KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornets Tom Placey #22 Bradford VT continues to dominate the division, seeming unstoppable. Placey once again came from deep in the pack to the front, to claim yet another win. The surprise visitor to victory lane would be Charlie Lakin #3 Groton VT coming from mid pack to finish in second place for his first visit to victory lane in 2009. The third and final spot was filled by Karl Sheldon #19 St Johnsbury VT (a proud new father!!)
The Journal Opinion Fast Fours were back in force this week and it was all about Mitch Durkee #5 Sharon VT who dominated the event ,on his tails Steve Bell #10 St Johnsbury VT did his best to set a challenge, but in the end it was Durkee across the line for the win. Bell would lose one more spot before the checkers waved to Andy Johnson #12 Wilder VT who would beat Bell for second.
The A Notch Above Limited Late Models couldn’t seem to get their act together this night with several cautions waving on the field of cars. TC Forward and Jeremy Hodge brought the full field to the green, but from there it would be downhill for Forward who continues to struggle with the handling of his machine. Working their way to the front of the field were Danny Eastman #8 Thetford Ctr VT and Troy Comeau #89 Rumney NH who would finish in that order across the line, with Will Hull #61 E Montpelier VT coming home in third.
It was MADNESS Night for the Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes and what a madness it was! The drivers of this division came up with 67 laps for an extra two thousand dollars on the line. But before the race began, Steve Ellsworth would fall from competition in his first appearance of the season due to mechanical problems, so the competition would be set at 65 laps run in three segments for the rest of the field.
Jason Horniak sat on the pole for segment one having secured the most laps at eighteen. Their three segments would be run almost caution free, and at the end of segment one the finish would be Josh Harrington, Jason Horniak, and Melvin Pierson. Segment two would be lined up inverted from the finish of those left on the track at the end of segment one, and at the end of this segment the top three across the line were Melvin Pierson, Billy Simmons and Bryan King. Segment three was inverted yet again this time from the second segment finish and when the checkers waved on this the final segment Josh Harrington crossed the line first with Bryan King and Billy Simmons second and third. The overall finish is the combination of all three events which would see Bryan King #X Corinth VT the third place finisher, Melvin Pierson #33 East Corinth VT second and Josh Harrington #71 Topsham VT your overall winner.
The BOND Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds suffered a total of six cautions before they were able to get their feature in the record books. Blake Shepard brought the field to the green and held off the heavy hitters surviving several cautions before he slid back to third. Shepard looked poised to come home with a victory lane appearance when a late race bobble would see that trip being pushed off for yet another week, as Travis Shinn #11 Groton NH got by him to come home third for his second trip to victory lane this season. Shinn would join Gary Siemons #5 Orford NH who dominated the second half of the event coming home the winner with Bob Shepard #44 W Topsham VT in the final victory lane spot, second place.
The P&C Hornet Queens were here again, and after the falling of their rides in the KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornets, only three were able to take the green. Emily Harrington wife of Coupe Driver Josh Harrington decided to give it a try, and would come home in third place behind Misty Bell who held off Melissa King for the win.

Bradford, Vt. August 2, 2009
Racing at Bear Ridge Speedway continues to keep the fans on the edge of their seats, and last night sponsored by Interstate Battery of New-Mont and JTB Towing & Recovery was no exception. In addition to the 99ROCK weekly racing series full card of racing the Granite State Mini Sprints were in town, plus it was Antique Tractor night with some beauties on hand to lap the track.
Granite State Mini Sprints 500cc top five: #04 Zach Herbert, #2 Lacey Hanson, #58 Jordan Eldridge, #8 Derek Eldridge, #77 Troy Boissoneau.
Granite State Mini Sprints 600cc top five: #75 Matt Robie, #2 Josh Boissoneau, #11 Terry Reil, #14 Johnny Chestnut, #40 Dave Howes.
In the KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornets Mark Harran #4 St Johnsbury VT started on the pole and looked poised to be heading to his first victory lane appearance of the summer as the heavy hitters of the division struggled to make their way to the front from their mid pack starting positions. Cautions would regroup the field on three occasions, giving Tom Placey #22 Bradford VT the breaks he would need to get thru the field and set his sights on Harran. Placey would capture the lead and move on for yet another win. Harran was able to hold on for second, following them in third was Justin Eldridge #74 Ctr Ossipee NH.
For the Journal Opinion Fast Fours Andy Johnson #12 Wilder VT came home the winner with Mitch Durkee #5 Sharon VT in second and Kevin Harran #57 St Johnsbury VT in third.
The A Notch Above Limited Late Models hit the dirt with fourteen machines set to do battle for the coveted victory lane trip. The handicap system put Danny Eastman #8 Thetford Ctr VT in the second row for the start of the race, and with the luck he has had this summer, it was expected that he would take the lead quickly and drive away for yet another win. Unfortunately the alignment of the stars was one spot off this night for Eastman as Shane Race #22 Strafford VT is one of the regular drivers who wants desperately to take a win away from Eastman. Race took advantage of lapped traffic to hold off Eastman for his second win of the season. The big surprise of the night would come from the #42 Robert Tucker E. Corinth VT (former Hornet driver). Tucker in his second appearance started in the tenth place spot, having qualified in his heat race, and would work his way to the front of the pack as far as second. Tucker held of Eastman for several laps but would finally have to succeed the spot to Eastman, and settle in for third. Tucker would hold on to the third place spot making the trip to victory lane.
In the Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes Melvin Pierson #33 East Corinth VT is back on top of his game, having a great season this year. Pierson has made the trip to victory lane six times this year and is eager to add a couple more trips to his scrap book before the end of the season. Pierson started in the rear and worked his way to the front in this caution free event with #1 Richie Simmons Bradford VT in toe. Simmons would not be able to overcome Pierson who would go on to claim the win. Simmons crossed the line in second, with #71 Josh Harrington Topsham VT coming home in third.
The BOND Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds once again had a full field of cars with some new faces, returning faces, and missing faces. Gary Siemons was able to get his machine repaired and back on track after the wild ride he had last week, but Jack Cook, while present in the pits, would be carless, his car deemed unfixable. The thirty lap feature was laden with cautions, several from drivers own bobbles sending them spinning in front of the pack. No wild rides were taken by any drivers, and while the caution did wave several times, the racing excitement was hot and exciting for the fans. One machine on the move was the 26 driven this week by a driver who has been around the track more than once and to victory lane. Jimmy Ryan Shoreham VT made the trek over the hill to do battle in the Sportsman class. Ryan started deep in the field went to the high side and began to tick of the positions on his way to the front. Ryan moved up to the second place spot, but was unable to get to Wayne Stearns #1d Thetford Ctr VT who would cross the line first. The battle for third would come down to the line as Jason Gray worked hard to hold off Chris Donnelly #17 Orford NH, unfortunately Gray would miss his mark in turn three and Donnelly leaped on his chance to get by him for the third and final victory lane spot.
